Beach vacation and ski adventure out of the picture this spring break? That’s OK, because there are plenty of fun activities that you can enjoy right here in DFW.
Here are our Top 5 DFW Spring Break Ideas:
Have a Staycation
Let housekeeping take care of the cleaning by booking a few nights at a hotel and get away without having to leave your own backyard. Great Wolf Lodge is a great kid-friendly option, with amazing pools, activities and attractions, or visit its neighbor, The Gaylord Texan, which has plenty of amenities itself and has several bars and restaurants to catch the beginning of March Madness basketball. If you want something a little more low key, take a trip to the McKinney Bed & Breakfast and explore the downtown shops and restaurants.
Get Wild at a local Wildlife Attraction
The Dallas Zoo and Fort Worth Zoo are great for a day trip, or they both offer a spring break camp for kids that last the entire week (M-F). More information for Dallas Zoo’s Wild Adventure Camp and Fort Worth’s Spring Break Camp as well as other fun zoo specials can be found on their websites. In addition to the zoos, the Dallas World Aquarium can be a lot of fun as well as Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, if you can make the hike to Glen Rose.
Visit a Museum or Discovery Center
There are plenty of interesting museums in DFW, but the Dallas Perot Museum of Nature and Science is sure to have something for all ages, and they have special activities and extended hours for the week of spring break. Another great option is to take a trip to the Lego Land Discovery Center, and they have even put together a Spring Break help line (469-444-3002) to help navigate booking your trip during the busy spring break week.
Also note, the Perot Museum has a sleepover the night of March 16, that looks to be a lot of fun as well.
Enjoy an Easy Afternoon of Games, Rides and More
Who said spring break had to be complicated? You can have a good time with little to no pre-planning and a free afternoon. Here are some places we suggest that are easy to navigate and don’t necessarily require a reservation: Six Flags, Dave & Busters, Main Event, Studio Movie Grill, Alamo Draft House, iFly, Top Golf, Urban Air Trampoline Park, and/or Ice Skating at the Galleria.
Get Outdoors
Winter has been longer and colder than expected, so now is the time to take in some much-needed vitamin D. Walk the dog, take the kids to the park, do some yoga, go fishing; whatever you decide to do, enjoy it while you can before the temperatures get too hot.
