FIRPTA for Agents – What if the Seller is a Foreign Person?
September 11, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
| $10The final installment of Carlisle Title’s summer education series that will be pairing CE with themed cocktail mixology is FIRPTA for Agents – What if the Seller is a Foreign Person?.
The course will outline the basic requirements of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA) and its impact on sellers and buyers in a residential real estate transaction. Agents will learn to identify issues for their seller clients based on information disclosed in their written listing agreements. Agents will also gain insight into buyers’ obligations if the facts of a transaction require buyers to withhold a percentage of the sellers’ proceeds at closing to comply with TREC contracts and IRS rules. The class will review standard terms in a typical Certificate of Non-foreign Status. AND, Don’t forget about the cocktails! This course will be paired with Moscow Mules and Singapore Slings.
Class will begin promptly at 4pm, and you must be present at that time to receive CE credit. In addition, per new TREC rules, you must be prepared to present a valid ID at time of check-in.
